Encore Online University Registration Open

There is an encore running of two of the 2010 Online University Courses: The GoldworkMaster Class and May Your Hands.  The courses will be taking registration until July 31st and will start on August 1st.  I have a limited number of spaces in these.  After those are gone, I will take a waiting list. When the list is up to 30, I can reopen the licenses with the museums to expand the courses.

There are complete descriptions on the website (linked above) with general course info here.  The highlight of the courses is the history sections with hundreds of pages of background information as well as close pictures of historical pieces.  For the Goldwork Master Class, there are details of 17 spot samplers, nightcaps, coifs, and panels in the collection at the MFA.  For the May Your Hands class, we study the history of Newbury and Newburyport, Massachusetts through the samplers made from 1730-1830.  The samplers pictured are from three museum collections and countless private collections.

If you are interested in Floral Glove, I am open to an Encore presentation of this course, but would need to have at least 30 people to reopen the licensing agreement with the MFA on the photos of historic pieces (a dozen 17th century gloves).  Email me (tricia@alum.mit.edu) if you are interested and I will add you to the wait list.  I need five more people to reopen this course.
